Marble Mineral Oil

Many people see etchings on marble and they believe the stone needs to be sealed.

I wanted to avoid flammable substances. Sealing your countertop is probably the best way to protect it but before sealing it you should make sure it needs to be sealed. Not all marble needs to be sealed. At the end of the prescribed period wipe up the mineral oil with a soft clean absorbent cloth.

The mineral oil will evaporate and your stone will return to its natural color. Test the marble with water or mineral oil. Instead i got a stone cleaner from the hardware store and mixed some into the paste. Adding mineral oil or ammonia to the paste would increase the poultice s effectiveness at drawing out oil and also be something cool to brag about at my next family reunion.

If the mineral oil does leave a dark stain your marble or granite is not damaged. Etching is not a stain. Stop over paying and use what food service and industrial customers have been using all along with mineral oil. Take a small amount of mineral oil and use a cotton ball or something similar to dab it on your marble or granite.
